You may want to consider finding another font for your headers that feels a bit more like the one in your logo. Also, your intro paragraph has less weight than the sidebar and recent work section. It seems like it should be the heaviest since its top left and supposed to be the first thing people read. However, if its not the first thing you want people to see, maybe you should consider reorganizing the page.

The search input in the header of the new design is too small, try making it taller. Also, the navigation links seem too similar to the body text. You need more contrast. Maybe a different background color for the nav section would help. The right side bar background image is too close to the left content. Add some spacing so it is cleaner and distinct. Decent design, both new and old.
