I have looked a couple of times just thinking wished i created that....
I don't really have thoughts about improvements but the grungy header in the designgrail sit feels a little bit odd if i look at it... maybe loose the grungy style over there. Great work, love it |

Thanks. Wasn't really going for grungy, more ancient and mystic, knights of the round table and that jazz. Glad you liked it anyways. _________________ something spammy |

Maybe something is wrong on my end, but both links display a website with a width of somewhere around 2000px. The site is just enormously wide horizontally and since the content is centered (I think) it doesn't even begin it's left margin till it's nearly off my screen (1440x900)
I'm on Firefox 3.0 on Mac OS X 10, hope that helps. http://browsershots.org to see how your site looks in various browsers |

Hah, these guys above me are silly. The reason its so big is because they are just comps in jpg form. He made the designs wide so that he could see how it would tile horizontally.
As for the sites, I like the first. It's clean and professional. However, it doesn't feel complete yet so play around a little more with layout and consistency. It may need a bit more space in some areas as well. The second site needs much more work. If you were going for an ancient feel, you may just want to check out some grunge sites. They both originate from an organic, aged style. I think the first step is to get rid of the white. It's so clean and fresh that it ruins any feel of aged. From there, come up with some textures so that nothing has a solid color. The left half of your header does a good job at this. These articles from Bart-Jan Verhoef should help: http://www.subdued.net/make-it-worn Unfortunately, the series isn't complete yet but should help your early stages of development. |
