I know how high standard the design is on this forum, and I thought, what better place to get critique?
Please, by all means, rip it to shreds, give me your worst! Thanks a lot, Alex. http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3118/homepagecopywx1.jpg |

Overall i think it's a decent idea. I'm a fan of the current white space trend that's happening online right now, and to those ends you've done well.
Things to address: Your color scheme looks clowny and a little too red/white/blue. Even if the client picks that set you should really tone the brightness way down and add some more color someplace to visually balance that blue/red snap. Your layout needs some adjustment from a user perspective you should really group your links and logins a little more. We're lazy, those extra 30 pixels make me not want to click on anything. Remove that slightly different colored box on the bottom of the page. Either commit to open white space, or commit to a heavier design. It seems like you're hedging. Overall i'd say just go through a revision for layout and color and repost. While that's not my worst, i hope it was helpful, none-the-less. |

Hi Alex
I like the use of space in your design with respect to the hot air balloons floating out of the image border although I agree with Alupa about some of the spacing issues. I think that a bolder font weight for the headlines but a slightly smaller font size would help make a more cohesive to the body copy. Another option may be to have a lead story with image that spans 2 columns of your existing layout just to add a little difference to the site form a purely visual point of view. I think overall it is a decent design that with a few minor tweaks could be even better. Good Luck. |

Hey bud, not a bad start.
A couple of minor things. You body content. Unless you limit the character count, you could potentially end up with some weird white space happening if one column of text runs longer than the other. You're past the bleed line on 1024 so you may want to add a footer. I agree with bob on the main content. You have a very visually strong 3 column grid happening, break it up a bit with a featured item across 2 columns. Good job. |

I like the logo, I like the site, but the two don't seem to match. I think there might be more cohesion between them if you use the same typeface from the logo somewhere within the page. Maybe in the navigation.
Also, the balloons are the first thing that caught my eye. Since they're all the same and the have Danneels across them, my first thought was the site was for Danneels. You might try using 3 different balloons instead of just the one. Ryan |

Hi
I like the site, overall layout and structure works well I agree with other posts I think may be your logo needs to work a bit better with your design. I think you just need to keep tweaking it, see where your design goes. Graphic Design Nottingham |

You did a fine job on layering the elements, such as the balloons and the 'sale this month' button. Adds a lot of visual interest.
I agree about the content body columns. You should try making them a fixed height so there isn't any uncomfortable whitespace. The colors are very good, consistent, and balanced. I would recommend making the login inputs in the header a little smaller as they are fighting with the header text for attention. Also, the rounded corners are somewhat jagged on the header. What graphic editor are you using? Make sure you are using anti-aliasing. Otherwise, you miught want to add a slight blur to soften them. |

I don't see it mentioned here, but something that stands out to me is that there is no visual priority for the content. The sidebar, which is usually secondary content, takes precedent over the other information in the main section of the page.
I believe its because you've got two equal sized columns and I'm just not sure which one to look at. Decide which is more important and either give it more width or change either the typography or design to make it stand out more. |
